The Country Waltz
The romantic waltz is a very popular dance for country dancers. Whenever there’s country music playing, you’ll likely hear the unique 1,2,3 waltz rhythm.
The Waltz is a smooth dance that travels along the outside of the dance counterclockwise, following what they call the “line of dance.” When people dance the country waltz, they use almost the same moves and style as the American ballroom waltz … except to country music.
What makes the Waltz special are the styles of “rise and fall” and “body sway.” Rise and fall is when a dancer rises up on their toes, then “falls” down through the knee and ankle, ending with a flat foot. This gives couples a floating look as they move smoothly around the dance floor.
